PHILOSOPHY We believe that in order for children to grow and learn, they must have a program that provides a nurturing, comfortable environment that is structured to meet the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of each individual child. Our program focuses on the development of the whole child. Our philosophy has its roots in our Christian belief that each child is a special and unique gift from God. Our philosophy is also largely based on the work of Erikson and Piaget and so we feel that children develop sequentially from one stage of development to another. Therefore, children must be provided with opportunities that will challenge them and aid in their progression from one stage to the next. We also believe that children learn by doing. Active learning and its components are important parts of our curriculum. MISSION STATEMENT Holy Cross Preschool is an outreach ministry of Holy Cross Lutheran Church to the young children of our community and their parents. Academic growth evolves through Christian care and a creative, developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our preschool provides a Christian atmosphere of love and acceptance to each individual child.
